Traveling to Punta Cana

Whether you're coming from the US, Europe or other cities in the Dominican Republic, getting to Punta Cana is easy.

From the US and Europe, you want to make sure you're flying into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). PUJ is one of the largest airports in the Carribean by volume, so flights are plentiful from wherever you fly.

Our wedding is on Saturday February 12, 2022. However, we'll have plenty of activities available for guest the weeks before and after the wedding. Feel free to extend your trip before and/or after, it's a beautiful time of the year to be in the Dominican Republic.

For most guests, we recommend arriving in Punta Cana on or before Friday the 11th.

Once you arrive in Punta Cana, if you're staying at one of our reserved hotels (Westin or Four Points) please call or email the hotel to have transportation arranged at the time of your arrival. No need for rental cars or taxi service. Though you are welcome to provide your own transportation and we're happy to help coordinate that as well. We'll have transportation to and from the wedding venue on the 12th.

For our local guests, you already know how easy it is to get to Punta Cana :).

Please remember to send us your travel information as soon as you have it booked, this will ensure we can help you in the event of any hiccups on your arrival.

Send your travel information to info@willieandamaya.com, and we'll see you soon!

Your stay in Punta Cana

Don't be fooled, a lot of hotels and resorts in the area call themselves "Punta Cana" but are actually quite a ways from Punta Cana. You might have even stayed at one of these resorts before.

In order to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, we've arranged hotel blocks at two hotels directly inside of the Puntacana Resort & Club area. Once at your hotel of choice, all transportation to and from the airport can be arranged by the hotel.

If you'd like to book a villa or condo, just let us know, we'd be happy to help.

Below you'll find information about both hotels and custom booking links to make sure you're booked in our block (and receive our discounted rates...).

Please note: The reservation block is available from February 6th - February 21st. If you'd like to stay for longer, go ahead and book your reservation through the link for the block days, and contact the Westin or Four Points directly at reservationswestin@puntacana.com to extend your stay before or after. In order to make it a smoother process please also copy our planner, marielle@gdmevents.com on your request email, Marielle will make sure you're taken care of.

The Westin

An idyllic beachfront oasis inside of the Puntacana Resort & Club, the Westin is Willie and Amaya's hotel of choice when staying in Punta Cana. Clean, spacious rooms combined with a serene pool and beach area make the Westin a perfect counterpoint to the all too common cliche of an "all inclusive resort" commonly found in the Carribean. With reasonable pricing and easy access to all of the amenities, activities and nature the Punta Cana area has to offer, this is our recommended hotel.

Most of the wedding activities are a 2-5 minute car (or golf cart) ride away.

Use the link below to book in our reserved block, and if you decide to book through another service, just make sure to mention you're a part of the "Willie and Amaya Diaz wedding" group.

The Four Points

If you're looking for a more no-frills approach to staying in Punta Cana, the Four Points is an outstanding hotel. Though not directly beachfront, the Four Points is located in the area of Puntacana we call "the Village" and only 5 minutes away from the Westin, the beach and our other wedding activities.

As part of the Puntacana Resort & Club organization, the Four Points shares most of the access to amenities the Westin does. In Willie's opinion, it might also have the best hotel breakfast buffet in the area too.

And don't worry, there are frequent shuttles back and forth from the Four Points to the Westin and the beach, as well as our arranged transportation to all wedding activities, so you'll never be out of the loop.

Similar to the Westin, use the link below to book in our reserved block at the Four Points.

What about COVID?

We know, we know. We thought that a February 2022 wedding wouldn't have to deal with it either. But here we are...

We understand and respect any trepidation about traveling in the times of COVID, we welcome your decision either way, with no judgement.

As for regulations, the Dominican Republic has been open to travelers from the United States and Europe for some time now, with no signs of it reverting into any type of travel ban. We suggest checking the CDC website (for the US) and any relevant EU regulations (for our European guests) for your travel to and from the Dominican Republic.

In the event of any specific guidance from the Dominican Republic about travel in and out, we will keep you informed as we learn more.

At the wedding, we do ask that you keep your fellow guests in mind, after all these are our family and friends. So we strongly recommend being vaccinated (not just for the wedding... but really just get vaccinated already). If you're not vaccinated, we ask that you bring a valid negative COVID test or medical proof of recovery.

The wedding will be "masks optional" which means nobody will be required to wear them. However, we do ask for no judgement of those who for the safety of themselves and their families decide to wear a mask at any point.

Any negativity towards a guest wearing a mask by any other guest (no matter how close you think we are) will not be tolerated. Not even as a joke.
